"Gorgeous" George Galloway Goes to Cuba

John Hinderaker over at Power Line notes that George Galloway, "who is in Cuba at the moment," is quoted in GQ magazine as saying that the assassination of Prime Minister Tony Blair "would be entirely logical and explicable — and morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq as Blair did."

This is nothing new for Galloway, of course. He spews vile rhetoric and nonsense on a regular basis. He has also made a habit out of coddling to dictators. It is amazing how he only finds nice things to say about monsters such as Saddam Hussein or the Assad regime in Syria, or any other number of dictators he has kissed up to.

This week, as it turns out, he is paying Castro a courtesy call. I was reading a translation of a television broadcast on Havana's Cubavision, one of Castro's propaganda organs, and happened upon an interesting segment with Galloway. The following is excerpted from an OSC translation [Emphasis Added]:

At 2221 GMT, Culture Minister Abel Prieto introduces British legislator, activist and friend of Cuba George Galloway who is completing a book praising Castro.

President Castro invited Galloway to come forward and address the audience. Castro gets up and shakes Galloway's hand. The camera shows the studio as the speakers move around.

At 2224 GMT, video shows Galloway seated in the chair left vacant and making remarks and Castro seated amid the audience. Galloway proceeds to denounce the double standards, crimes and lies of imperialism and, and to sing praises to the Cuban Revolution and President Castro.

At 2250 GMT, video shows Castro and Galloway chatting and Castro returning to his chair at the roundtable. Castro praises Galloway's remarks and declares a 10-minute recess.

At 2253 GMT, the program breaks as video shows the panelists beginning to move away from the table.

Cubavision broadcasts miscellaneous images of street scenes and buildings from various Cuban cities and diverse landscape vistas.

(This is the first time President Castro has been observed to call for a recess during this type of event)

At 2302 GMT, the program continues with Castro praising Galloway's remarks and calls on Culture Minister Abel Prieto and Randy Alonso Falcon to interview Galloway on Friday, and include Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada as well in the program.

I can't wait to read Gorgeous George's book on Castro. Maybe he can write a whole set of books on dictators he has kissed up to. Vol. 1 - Castro, Vol. 2 - Saddam Hussein, Vol. 3 - Bashir Assad...etc.

P.S. Are there enough G's in the title?
