Chavez-Style Isolation

Hugo Chavez has decided to reduce the number of flights by U.S. airlines into Venezuela drastically.

Bloomberg reports:

The reduction, if upheld, would end all flights to Venezuela by Continental Airlines and Delta Airlines, while halving those of AMR Corp.'s American Airlines, a spokesperson for Venezuela's airline association said, adding that the U.S. airlines and the institute will meet today. ...

The measure, which will apply to passenger and cargo flights, goes into effect March 1, Venezuela's Civil Aviation Institute said in a statement on its Web site, and was ordered because the U.S. is not respecting bilateral air accords.

It looks like Chavez is cutting himself off from the U.S. in every way imaginable...
